چکیده
Site and situation specific assessments of such services are crucial to sustainably conserve manage forest resources. In this study, using Chilmo as a case study site, an attempt has been made identify the main ecosystem which perceived preferred by local communities. The triangulated primary data collection methods field observations, household surveys, key informant interviews pebble-distribution methods. addition, secondary was used support verify data. Combination techniques were employed for analyses. Five lanscapes four identified. Out which, provisioning source livelihood subsistence incomes Forests sole water fuel wood in area. According perception preferences people land received highest scores compared other landscapes all except services. We conclude that communities highly dependent on forests’ This finding is expected contribute towards management be input further valuation study.

متن کاملForest Ecosystem Services: Carbon and Air Quality
Forests provide various ecosystem services related to air quality that can provide substantial value to society. Through tree growth and alteration of their local environment, trees and forests both directly and indirectly affect air quality. Though forests affect air quality in numerous ways, this chapter will focus on five main ecosystem services or disservices related to air quality that hav...

Forest ecosystem services are fundamental for human life. To protect and increase forest ecosystem services, the driving factors underlying changes in forest ecosystem service values must be determined to properly implement forest resource management planning. This study examines the driving factors that affect changes in forest ecosystem service values by focusing on regional forest characteri...

Are we cutting down tropical forests too rapidly and too extensively? If so, why? Answers to both questions are obscured in some ways by insufficient and unreliable data on the economic worth of forest ecosystem services. It is clear, however, that rapid, excessive cutting of forests can irreversibly and substantively impair ecosystem functions, thereby endangering the flow of several socially ...
